USING unfair means during examinations is not a secret, and this culture is as rampant in Sindh as anywhere else in the country. While all stakeholders, including parents, are to be blamed for this menace, the role of education boards to this effect is destructive.

The examination season is considered a golden period for money-minting in these boards, where one can literally 'buy' grades by paying a hefty amount to the corrupt officials. Generally, universities in Sindh give intermediate results 30 per cent weightage, 10pc to matriculation and 60pc entry to test for admissions. This selection process is the only reason for this thriving 'market for grades'.
