Mansehra lawyers to move court against toll tax.

MANSEHRA -- The lawyers have announced that they will move the court against the resumption of the collection of toll tax on the Karakoram Highway in Khatain Da Gall area here.

'The toll collection is against the laws, so we have finalised our petition against it for filing with the Peshawar High Court's Abbottabad Circuit Bench,' lawyer Mohammad Anwar Lughmani told reporters here on Friday.

Accompanied by members of the legal fraternity, Mr Lughmani said the National Highway Authority had illegally been collecting toll tax from motorists and transporters at Qalandarabad and Badar interchanges on the Hazara Expressway and Khatain Da Galla on KKH though the three points were located within seven kilometers radius.

Former provincial assembly speaker Shahzada Gustasib Khan also announced that he would challenge the Khatain Da Galla toll collection in the court.

He said the toll tax collection was suspended over a decade ago following the civil society's protests.

'The NHA has illegally resumed the toll tax collection,' he said.
