Mango growers suffer losses because of windstorms.

RAHIM YAR KHAN -- The growers have started picking early varieties of mango after suffering huge yield losses because of heavy windstorms in the area during the last two weeks.

In many mango orchards along the National Highway in four tehsils of the district the traders are busy packing the boxes of early mango verities like Sarowly, Dosehri and Anwar Ratol.

A mango trader, Jam Farooq, told Dawn that although there were lesser trees of these early mango varieties in the area, he hoped to sell the fruit at good rates in the markets of Karachi and Lahore.

He said after a week, the packing of Sindhri variety would begin for supply in the markets.
