Man gets life for killing brother, injuring wife.

KOHAT -- An additional sessions judge on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed Rs1 million fine for killing his brother and injuring his wife two years ago.

Additional sessions judge-IV Nadia Syed in her verdict said the convict, Azizur Rehman, should pay the amount to the wife of the deceased, failing which he would have to undergo another six months jail.

Raheem Gul, the deceased, had gone to the house of his brother, Rehman, in Bashkhel Bala Shah area of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision to protest against the beating of his children. However, after arguments, Rehman allegedly opened fire, killing his brother and injuring his wife.

In a separate action, the police busted an inter-provincial gang of fraudsters on Tuesday for selling fake gold jewellery to innocent people and minting money from them.

Addressing a press conference, DSP city Bashir Dad said two complainants, Tariq Jameel of Kohat and Atif Khan of Hangu had reported to the city police that they had been sold fake gold by a gang of four people.

He said the police after registering separate cases against the gang members arrested them, recovered fake gold ornaments and Rs500,000 looted from the people.

DSP Bashir Dad said the accused were produced in court which remanded them into the police custody for further interrogation.
