Man awarded 10 years jail in drug case.

PESHAWAR -- A local court on Tuesday convicted an accused for narcotics trafficking and sentenced him to 10 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs500,000.

Additional district and sessions judge Attaullah Jan pronounced that the prosecution had proved its case against Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Gujranwala district of Punjab, and the evidence on record connected him with the commission of the offence.

The court also extended to the convict benefit of section 382-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure under which his period of detention prior to his conviction would be counted in his prison term.

The convict was arrested by officials of excise and narcotics control department when he was travelling in a car on March 22, 2022.
