LOWER DIR -- The traders' body on Friday opposed the district administration's plan to launch an anti-encroachment operation in Khall Bazaar here.

The decision was taken at a meeting held here with traders, elders, political activists and local government representatives in attendance.

On the occasion, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Azam Khan, president Anjuman-i-Tajiran, Khall, Hameedur Rehman and others said the district administration had issued notices to shopkeepers to vacate their outlets within a week.

They said the administration should first demarcate the limit of the Panjkora River and then launch the anti-encroachment drive. The insisted they had built shops on their own lands and the state was not authorised to raze them.

The traders formed a committee to meet the deputy commissioner in that regard.
