A Look At New Security Era for Eurasia.

Byline: Assoc Prof. Haktan BAdegRSEL

Syria is geography in Eurasia that connects the Middle East to the main continent and has the ports of the historical Silk Road. Throughout history It has been the battle of great powers, played an important role in the transmission of beliefs, and it is the historical Levant where Muslims, Christians and other religious groups live together in peace for a long time.

Today, it is the center of all forms of violence and as a node for international terrorism between Afghanistan and Africa, and a main threat of peace for the Eurasian peoples. But what happened in the last fifteen years and how did Syria become like this?

We will now try to answer this question in this study. The collapse of the Soviet bloc in 1990 stunned the world and with this period an era of obscurity was beginning. Adegn this time the deterrence-based peace process linked to the nuclear weapon balance, the most important basis of realism, was thought to be further strengthened with the remaining of one pole in the world.

But it was a big mistake! Because With 1990, a huge chaos environment was created due to global objectives of the different fractions, the USA and the Western world, as in the period of geographical discoveries, entered the tendency to act according to their own interests, without considering the needs of societies and their ethnic cultural characteristics.

The most important event occurring simultaneously with the collapse of the Soviet Union was the US intervention when Saddam invaded Kuwait and his failure to back down. Then NATO elements taking initiative in Iraq and Saddam was taken under control for all their owns. meanwhile, there have been significant developments in Central Asia. By launching Caspian Sea's energy basin, the Shanghai Five appeared and harsh rhetoric to the US and Western partners began in the meeting reports. It also sparked a new controversy. A new system with a USA single pole instead of a bipolar system (US President Bush at the time would say: New World System).

How accurate was the conjuncture formed by the perspective of the United States and the West?

There were always questionable and controversial theories about how valid it would be for Eurasia. It was produced by Western scientists and implemented by Western governments. However, the most important issue would be forgotten is that the results would be disastrous when the practices shaped by these theories were applied by force on other societies with cultural differences. Because this theories, the basis of western ideas was based entirely on the capitalist structure. But east wasn't based on capitalist. It was mostly fatalistic. It was thought based and powered by moral and belief values.

This caused a reaction in a short period of time. Soft Power against the reaction was abandoned. And Hard Power was applied. Societies, however, have shown more resistance. The West and the United States disregarded the basic values that Eurasian societies were powered by. They wanted to control the wealth of Eurasia through the discourses of democracy, public opinion and equality. But the core values of societies had been inverted. This caused continental degradation.

The question here might come to mind. The Western world is just guilty? No! Of course it's not. Because a long time period, scientists in the eastern world couldn't develop or implement theories for developing. East realization tried to move through the thought systems that the Western world...
