Leadership in police to play role for welfare of the force, martyrs' families: Minister.

ISLAMABAD -- Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmad Shah Monday said the leadership in the police department has to play role for the welfare of the force and families of its martyrs other than the government.

Addressing to media on his maiden visit, after taking charge of his ministry, to Police Lines Headquarters here, he said 'It is the command who takes stand and initiative for any force striving to serve the nation in the best of its capacities. A Jawan (Police Officer) embraces bullet on his chest just because of his sheer passion, love and determination for his motherland. The chief of the force serves as a shield to protect the rights of its jawans and they do not need any other leadership to provide them assistance.'

Ijaz Ahmad Shah said that if the martyrs' families and police officials had no packages available for their well being then the head of the department was responsible.

He said, 'Police is the most vulnerable department whose demerits are ruthlessly criticized by everyone but their achievements in the good of the public go unsung and unacknowledged. They are facing many challenges while combating terrorism. The country is also facing serious problems like terrorism and economic crisis putting the nation in the meshes of crisis but the leadership is honest and hardworking whose unflinching efforts will bear fruitful results.'
