Law only catches the poor, as elite goes scot-free, says Iqbal Hashmi.

KARACHI -- Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Iqbal Hashmi said in a statement on Tuesday that in our country the law only catches the poor, while letting the elite go scot-free.

Commenting on the verdict of the Election Commission of Pakistan on PTI foreign funding case, he said that right long years were spent to decide this case and the verdict seemed too soft as compared to the intensity of crime. He said that now the federal government on the basis of this verdict would go to court but to no avail. He said that as per the decision the crime is proved but the show-cause seems to tell that the institution and their heads have no courage to take on powerful elements. He said it seems that the ECP has humbly asked Imran Khan would he mind if illegally gotten foreign funds are fortified.

He said in a money laundering case such a soft attitude is hardly seen. He said Nawaz Sharif and Mariam Nawaz are also convicted from courts but they roam freely. He said one may say the PTI itself has written this verdict. He said in this country only the poor face law and courts while the rich are not touched by the law.
