Landi Kotal residents protest power cuts.

KHYBER -- Residents on Saturday demonstrated against prolonged electricity loadshedding in Landi Kotal, the district headquarters of Khyber.

They blocked that main road leading to Torkham border for several hours, suspending the vehicular traffic.

The residents alleged that the local grid station staff had subjected them to almost 20 hours of loadshedding. They alleged power supply also remained suspended for two consecutive days on weekly basis in order to reduce load on the grid.

The protesters said frequent tripping of power supply, excessive loadshedding and low voltage had adversely affected the life as long hours of power suspension had hit water supply system.

They said they were left with no option but to come onto the roads as the local grid station staff refused to listen to their repeated complaints.
