KMC land record being computerised, says mayor.

KARACHI -- Mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Wednesday said that the record of land department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation was being computerised so that documents of land and properties could not be altered.

'The purpose of computerisation is to preserve land department record and save it from misuse,' he added.

Speaking to officers of the KMC finance department here, he said that a financial management software was being developed and the municipal administration was bearing all its expenses. 'After completion of the software, all record will be computerised and alteration in bills of salaries, pension and gratuity will not be possible,' he said.

Mr Akhtar said that the work on computerisation of land record was initiated last year and the same would continue this year as well so that it could be completed at the earliest.

He said that citizens often complained that their property documents were altered or two files of one property were made. 'Keeping in view their complaints, it is decided to develop a software through which details of every property could be seen with just a click,' he added.

The mayor was of the view that this was the era of technology and manual record in every department had almost been replaced by computerised data.
