Killing of transgender person protested in Mansehra.

MANSEHRA -- The transgender persons took to the streets here on Thursday to protest the killing of their community's member, Jahangir alias Taboo, in Karak.

Besides demanding the public hanging of the killers, they also asked the government to immediately ban the holding of arms and ammunition by civilians in the country.

Holding banners and shouting slogans, the protesters marched on Kashmir Road and Abbottabad Road.

'We are the messengers of love and peace but even then, we're being gunned down. If the government wants to maintain law and order and check this killing spree, people should be barred from keeping weapons,' president of the Shemale Association in Hazara division Maria Khan told protesters.

General secretary of the Shemale Association in Hazara division Nadar Khan said at least 70 transgender persons were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone.

He said the government was acting as a silent spectator to the harassment and killing of their community's members.

'We want public hanging of Jahangir's killers as if this happens, nobody will ever think about killing transgender persons,' she said.
