KDA official gunned down in targeted attack.

An officer of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) was shot dead on main Shahrah-i-Quaideen on Tuesday in what appeared to be a targeted attack, police said.

They said 46-year-old Mohammad Ali Shah was targeted on the main road in his car near a popular eatery when he was waiting for the traffic light to turn green.

Two men on a motorbike came close to his car and one of them fired a single shot from very close range and rode away.

'The victim was hit in the head,' said Inspector Aurangzeb Khattak, the SHO of the Ferozabad police station. 'The victim was a resident of Gulistan-i-Jauhar and came to see someone in the Tariq Road area. He was probably driving home when [he] came under attack.'

He said that the police recovered spent bullet casings of a 9mm pistol from the crime scene.

However, he ruled out a mugging attempt as the reason behind the incident. He said it was a targeted attack but the motives needed to be investigated.
