Jirga resolves decades-old blood feud in Lower Dir.

LOWER DIR -- A jirga resolved a 22-year-old blood feud in Khungi Nangrai area of Lower Dir the other day.

A youth identified as Luqman was killed during a clash between two families some 22 years ago over ownership of a pathway.

Earlier, many jirgas were held to settle the feud, but to no avail.

A jirga led by Malik Farooq Iqbal, the district president of PML-N, started its efforts to resolve the matter. The jirga arranged several meetings between the warring parties and finally succeeded to make them to reconcile.

A function to this effect was held in Timergara with an elder, Malik Khaista Khan in the chair.

Additional deputy commissioner Abdul Wali Khan, Malik Farooq Iqbal and others, who were present on the occasion, thanked the parties for their resolve to end the enmity.

The speakers highlighted the importance of jirga system in Pakhtun society and said its decisions were 'long-lasting'.

HOSPITAL: Residents of Adenzai tehsil have flayed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not honouring its commitment to upgrade the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Chakdara, to category-B status.
