JI accuses govt of forcing people to beg for flour.

MANSEHRA -- Jamaat-i-Islami's Darband tehsil chapter has accused the government of subjecting the poor people, particularly women, to humiliation and disgrace at the flour distribution points, and called for providing the commodity to the people across the country at subsidised rates.

'Women are disgraced as they are forced to stand in long queues for hours before being able to get a 10-kilogram flour bag,' deplored Salauddin Gohar, the JI tehsil emir, while addressing a presser.

Flanked by other office-bearers, he said if the government continued to 'disgrace' the women, the JI workers would come onto the roads.

'The government is not sincere in providing relief to deserving families as it has already increased the price of a 40kg wheat flour bag to Rs6,000 from Rs5,200,' Mr Gohar said. He said the government should instead check inflation.

JI tehsil naib emir Ijaz Ahmad also denounced the government for 'forcing' people to beg for flour at the distribution points. 'The government should announce such measures, which could significantly cut perks of ministers and bureaucrats and provide relief to the teeming millions in prices of food items,' he said.
