KARACHI -- Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Tuesday announced that it would hold a demonstration and lay siege to the K-Electric (KE) head office in the city to register its protest against prolonged loadshedding and overbilling.

Speaking at a press conference at the KE head office, JI Karachi emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman along with MPA Syed Abdul Rasheed demanded cancellation of KE's contract and forensic audit of its accounts.

'We will lay a siege to the KE head office in the city if an uninterrupted power supply is not ensured and overbilling is not done away with,' he said.

Hafiz Naeem observed that the power utility had been looting citizens through overbilling and resorting to 'fake' fuel adjustments.

He asked the KE to increase its electricity generation, stop overbilling and withdraw the illegal adjustments.

The JI leader also accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P) of patronising the KE.
