Intl Dance Day celebrated.

ISLAMABAD -- International Dance Day was celebrated on Monday to promote dance in all its forms across the world and make people aware of the value of dance in the field of performing arts.

Performing Arts organizations across the globe celebrate this day annually to enable the dance community to promote their work on a broader scale, so that governments and opinion leaders are aware of the value and importance of dance in all its forms and support it.

Performing art lovers participate in events to enjoy dance in its all forms and share the joy of dance with others.

International Dance Day was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute ITI, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. Since its creation in 1982, the International Dance Committee and the International Theatre Institute ITI select an outstanding dance personality to write a message for International Dance Day each year.

This day is a celebration day for those who can see the value and importance of the art form of dance and acts as a wake-up-call for governments, organizations and institutions which have not yet recognized its value and its potential for economic growth.

The intention of the International Dance Day is to celebrate the art form of dance above all political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together with a common language of dance.
