India's UNSC election a diplomatic nightmare: Shahbaz.

LAHORE -- Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif has condemned India's election to the UN Security Council, saying it has sent a negative message from the UN to the oppressed and law-abiding people of India-held Kashmir and across the world.

In a statement here on Friday, the PML-N president said it was a sad moment that a consistent and gross violator of human rights charter of the UN and a number of UNSC resolutions had been added to that very forum.

'This is a black blot on the face of the UN after India's 5th August actions in occupied Kashmir. The PTI government has murdered the wishes and aspirations of the people of Pakistan and Kashmir by supporting India's election to the UNSC. This is the doing of the friends of Narendra Modi ruling Pakistan right now,' he said in the statement.

He maintained that not working to prop up an alternative member from the region by Pakistan was akin to a total surrender at the diplomatic front.
