Illegal transportation: Flour truck owned by a 'bigwig' seized.

RAHIM YAR KHAN -- A team of food department and Punjab police foiled a bid to smuggle flour to other provinces and confiscated bags of flour loaded on a truck at the Kot Sabzal post on national highway at Punjab-Sindh border, some 58 kms from here.

Food department junior clerk Ahmed Amer Jamil said he stopped a truck (FDN-9690) laden with bags on Saturday night. On inquiring, truck driver Muhammad Afzal said he loaded the flour from Aleem Flour Mills [owned by president RYK Chamber of Commerce and Industry]. When he (Jamil) demanded permission slip and licence, Afzal could not show and presented a 'bogus' bill receipt on which Kot Sabzal police registered a case of illegal transportation of flour under sections of Punjab Foodstuff Control Act 1958-3 and 1958-6 and seized the truck.

The food department sources said three trucks from the mills owned by the RYKCCI president were also impounded in January 2020.
