Homage paid to educationist Yusuf Shaikh.

LARKANA -- Speakers highlighted the services of educationist Prof MohamAmad Yusuf Shaikh at a condolence reference held recently in his memory at the Arts Council of Pakistan under the aegis of Larkano District Historical Society (LDHS).

During his long career, late Prof Yusuf remained the principal of Cadet College Larkana, Sindh Madressatul Islam Karachi, Public School Sukkur, Public School Gadap and Bakhtawar Cadet College for Girls Nawabshah. He was awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his extraordinary services in the field of education.

Presiding over the reference, prominent writer, poet, researcher and his close friend Prof Dr Bashir Ahmed Shaad said: 'We considered each other as real brothers. My friendship with him started in 1956 when we were studying in seventh class in the Municipal Secondary School in Larkana.'

Prof Shaad said he was a dedicated person who always took extra care of the institutions wherever he served during his lifetime.

Former Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan judge, Sindh finance secretary and Houston University USA Prof (adjunct) Shahzado Shaikh in his obituary message sent from the USA said: 'It is painful to pen down that a great man, friend and brother, Mohammad Yusuf Shaikh, ultimately departed to his eternal abode, working ceaselessly till Covid-19 overwhelmed him.'

He was a beautiful bouquet of a genuine Pakistani Sindhi Muslim as author, educationist and commander of the seemingly impossible, he said.

LDHS chairman and writer Prof Mukhtiar Samo said that Prof Shaikh was an epitome of hard work, dedication and integrity. He was a brave soul who did not compromise on his principles, he added.

As chairman of the LDHS for three consecutive tenures, he served it tremendously, he said.
