Historic gurdwara opened for Sikh community after renovation.

SIALKOT: The government has opened Gurdwara Babey Di Beri after its renovation for performance of religious rites of the Sikh community after its decades-long closure.

In charge of the Gurdwara, Sardar Jaskaran Singh Sidhu, said the Sikhs were much delighted at its renovation for its historical and religious significance for the community. He said after its opening the Sikh Yatrees (pilgrims) from worldover were reaching the Gurdwara to perform their religious rites.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Gurdwara Babey Di Beri, the Pakistan Council for Social Welfare and Human Rights (PCSWHR) chairman Muhammad Ejaz Noori said the minorities had been enjoying complete religious freedom in Pakistan. He added the minorities were also playing a pivotal role in national, political and economical stability and prosperity of the country.

He said the government was making all-out efforts for protecting the rights of the minorities. He said every religion gave the lessons of love, peace and tolerance.

On the occasion, Sardar Jaskaran Singh lauded the Pakistan's sincere efforts for ensuring the religious freedom of the minorities and safeguarding the sacred places of the Sikh community in the country.
