Health Minister Submits A Resignation Request Following His Arrest

Minister of Health and Sports G.Shiilegdamba, who was placed under arrest by the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) on charges of corruption, presented a request to resign from his position as minister on November 6.

His request states, "I did not commit any crime. I am confident that my innocence will be proven during the investigation, or in court. However, it has become clear that it will take some time, depending on the current political reasons.

"I cannot accept that the stable operations of the health sector, which are carried on the backs of thousands of doctors and nurses who work hard to save lives and treat the Mongolian nation, could malfunction at some point and the reputation of the health sector could be damaged.

"Hereby, I present my request to resign from the position of Minister of Health and Sports of my own free will.
