I would like to extend my heartfelt felicitations to the People of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of Independence. 75 years ago today was the victory of the People of Pakistan in their struggle for liberation under the magnificent leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah which resulted in the estab lishment of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. There are no shortcuts to success. Unmatched sacrifices were made to protect and safeguard religious, cultural and social values in this country, while the spirit of unity, faith, discipline and hard work beared its fruit to transform this nation into a state where democratic norms could flourish and rule of law prevailed. The hearts of the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has always been beating together. This was very well highlighted by the Presi dent of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi at one of his speech last year and I quote: "the Pakistani and Turk ish Cypriots might speak different languages but we are one".
