Gulberg-Babu Sabu expressway gets greenlight.

LAHORE -- The Gulberg-Babu Sabu Lahore Elevated Expressway Project has received in-principle clearance from Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, who has also approved a plan to run electric buses across the city.

The decision was made at a meeting held here on Sunday.

The chief minister said that he hoped that after the elevated road was built, the city's image will improve.

He asked for a review of the potential for developing business districts alongside the elevated road.

Mr Elahi learned that the four-lane elevated expressway's construction would cost Rs85 billion and that the first expressway would be built from east to west, allowing drivers to go from Gulberg to the M-II motorway in eight minutes. It will cut trip distance by 20 km and time by 30 minutes.
