Grenade found on rail track near Bholari safely defused.

DADU -- A hand grenade was safely defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) of Sehwan police after it was found lying on the rail tracks near Bagh-i-Yousuf in the city on Sunday.

Sehwan SHO Abdul Jabbar Memon told local reporters that the area police received information from some people about presence of the grenade on the track. A joint team of the Sehwan police station and Madadgar-15 rushed to the specified spot and cordoned off the area until a BDS team arrived and safely defused the grenade, he said.

According to the BDS personnel, it appeared to be an old grenade. They could not guess as to when it was planted at this site.

The SHO said such explosives used to be planted by members of certain proscribed outfits in the past. In some cases, grenades and other explosive devices had been used to blow up railway tracks and electricity pylons in deserted areas of the province.
