Govt flayed for not releasing sufficient funds to varsities.

PESHAWAR -- Awami National Party has accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of not allocating sufficient funds to steer the public sector universities out of financial crisis and stressed the need for release of scholarships to support the poor students.

According to a statement, ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan said that government failed to set up any new university rather it ruined the existing educational institutions due to its faulty policies.

Addressing students on the second day of Bacha Khan Peace Festival at University of Peshawar on Wednesday, he said that his party established nine universities when it was in power in the province.

Aimal Khan said that financial crisis in the public sector universities had worsened as admission and tuition fee had been increased manifold while salaries of employees were reduced. He said that excessive increase in fee forced the poor students to say goodbye to education.

The ANP leader also expressed concerns over the reports about alleged harassment of students in different universities and said that government failed to probe the matter for awarding punishment to the people involved in it.
