Govt decides to abolish posts vacant for more than one year.

ISLAMABAD -- The federal government has decided to abolish posts vacant for over a year and a letter has already been written to the Establishment Division in this regard.

The 34th meeting of the Cabinet Implementation Committee (CIC) for reorganising the federal government was held on May 7, with the abolishment of posts in federal government and freezing of recruitment of support staff on the agenda. The committee directed the Finance Division to abolish all posts between BS-1 and BS-16 that had been vacant for over a year.

Reportedly, this decision was taken in light of the increasing salary bill of the federal government. Moreover, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the World Bank (WB) had also desired a significant reduction in governance apparatus to curtail unnecessary expenditures.
