Govt committed to promoting peace through literature: MNA.

ISLAMABAD -- Parliamentary Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Syma Nadeem on Friday said the government was committed to promoting peace, tolerance and brotherhood through literature in society.

She was addressing a seminar titled 'Creative Literature and Pakistani Women Writers' organised by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) ahead of International Women's Day.

Prominent poet and writer, Dr Shaista Nuzhat presided the seminar while the keynote address was presented by Dr Naheed Qamar.

'Pakistani women are playing an undeniably important and active role in every discipline of life to form an ideal society,' said Syma Nadeem.

Prevailing thoughts and attitudes towards women in our society must change, she said, adding that it was high time to unite women and to provide them with equal opportunities.

Dr Nuzhat, highlighted problems being faced by Pakistani women in general and by women writers particularly and reminisced about their courage for standing up for their rights.
