Governor visits Mehar taluka ahead of polling.

DADU -- Sindh Governor Imran Ismail visited Betto Jatoi, the native village of former chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi, in Mehar taluka of Dadu district on Tuesday. He met Mr Jatoi and other Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders including Sadaqat Ali Jatoi, the senior vice president of the party's Sindh chapter.

Speaking to local reporters along with the PTI leaders, the governor said his visit had nothing to do with the Nov 7 by-election for PS-38 Johi, a constituency that falls within Mehar taluka. He said he did not intend to influence the by-election.

He recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had assigned Liaquat Jatoi the task of assessing financial requirements for development in this area. He said Mr Jatoi had apprised the PM about the issues relating to his assignment. ThereAfore, he said, he came here to discuss the matter with Mr Jatoi.

The governor said that the prime minister intended to get special funds released for the area.

In reply to a question, Governor Ismail said the federal government was not going to close 400 departments. He termed such reports disinformation.
