Geelani expresses reservations regarding recent ceasefire agreement between DGMOs of Pakistan and India on LoC and other sectors.

SRINAGAR -- Former Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) and Senior Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani while expressing reservations regarding the recent ceasefire agreement between Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India on Line of Control (LoC) and other sectors has said that this agreement does not reflect the interests of the Kashmiri masses.

A statement quoting Syed Ali Shah Geelani has been issued by Saiyyed Abdullah Gilani, Special Representative of Syed Ali Geelani in Islamabad on Sunday.

Syed Ali Geelani said that the statement said that the new DGMO's pact between India and Pakistan is now in effect. Whether it will ensure peace on the CFL is something that remains to be seen. However the development itself is as disturbing as it is surprising.

He said that ever since India's brazen aggression on August 5 2019, we have been hearing assurance after assurance that there would be no engagement with India until it rolls back everything it did on August 5.

Syed Ali Geelani said that now we know that the back channel talks between the two sides have been going on for several months culminating in the latest DGMO's pact. May one ask why this contradiction between the stated policy and action? Or may one, for that matter, ask why this secrecy on a matter of such national and international importance?
