Gas outages, high flour prices irk Kohat people.

KOHAT -- Domestic consumers here continue to face gas outages despite closure of gas filling stations while the price of 20kg flour bag has reached Rs2,550.

Residents in several areas have also complained about power outages. They said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was producing gas and electricity, demanding that the prolonged outages should be stopped.

Faisal, a flour dealer, said the prices were within the reach of people in Punjab, but in KP the flour prices were much higher.

President of transporters Pir Adil Shah and president of filling stations owners of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, HajiSajid, claimed on Thursday that the provision of gas could be ensured to the CNG stations, domestic consumers and Punjab at the same time and they were ready to cooperate with SNGPL in this regard.

Adil Shah told a press conferencethat the transporters had been forced to raise the fare by Rs100 on inter-provincial routes, but they were being fined by the road transport authority.

They regretted that gas-producing zones of Hangu, Kohat and Karak were also were being subjected to outages.
