NEW DELHI -- Lord Louis Mountbatten, India's Governor-General, is understood to have expressed a desire that he should be relieved of his onerous office ... by February next. Lord Mountbatten's present tenure ... lasts up to June this year. His Excellency's intention has been conveyed both to the Commonwealth Secretariat in Britain and to his Cabinet here in New Delhi. The desire for his early relinquishment of office is believed to be due to the worsening of inter-Dominion relations.
