SRINAGAR -- 'If the Kashmir Government decides to join the Hindustan Constituent Assembly, the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir will revolt.' Thus says a statement issued by Chowdhary Hamidullah Khan, acting President of the Kashmir Muslim Conference, immediately following the All-Kashmir Pandit State Conference's decision urging the Maharaja to join the Hindustan Constituent Assembly.

The Muslim Conference has devised a formula that seeks to assure minority rights and spare Kashmir from communal troubles. Kashmir's real interest demands its joining Pakistan because of its geographical and economic position, says the statement, 'but we have sacrificed these positive advantages to allay the fears and suspicions of the minorities'.
