Four persons shot dead in three incidents in city.

KARACHI -- Four persons were killed in different incidents in the city on Wednesday.

A man and a woman were shot dead near Qazzafi Town off the National Highway on Wednesday afternoon, Quaidabad police and hospital officials said.

Some passengers sat in a rickshaw near Manzil petrol pump and were on their way to Muslim Colony when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on them, said area SHO Amin Khoso. As a result, Obaid Rehman and Zahida sustained critical bullet injuries. They were transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival at the emergency department, said a senior hospital official.

The woman sustained a bullet wound in the head while the man received injuries in his chest and upper torso. Mr Khoso said it was not known who the 'real' target was. Both deceased had no relations with each other. The woman was a resident of Thatta district while the man belonged to the city.

'Love marriage' claims man's life

A 45-year-old man was shot dead in the Sohrab Goth area on Wednesday, according to police.

They added that as Ghulam Haider came out of a masjid in Laasi Goth after offering Fajr prayers, gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on him and fled.

He sustained critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, said additional police surgeon Dr Saleem Shaikh.

Dr Shaikh added that the victim received 10 bullet wounds on different parts of his body.
