Four injured robbers held after 'encounter'.

FAISALABAD -- Police claim to have arrested four alleged robbers after an encounter in the City Samundari police jurisdiction on Monday midnight.

However, the families of the arrested robbers who suffered bullet injuries on their legs claimed that they were taken into custody from their homes.

Police said that on Monday night Ijaz Nazir called a 15 team at 11:50pm claiming that robbers snatched Rs40,000 from him and drove away with his motorcycle near Gul Chowk. Following the call, police chased the robbers and surrounded them near Sahiwal Bypass, Chak 471.

Seeing the police, the robbers started indiscriminate firing and the officials retaliated as a result of which four robbers were injured. Police said they recovered the amount and the motorcycle.

During the initial interrogation, police said the gangsters confessed to have committed crimes of heinous nature including robberies in Samundari and Dijkot areas.
