Four illegal oil-extraction units sealed in Hassanabdal.

TAXILA -- The teams of the local administration, along with the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) and the Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA), unearthed four different oil and fat rendering units established in a densely populated area of Hassanabdal and subsequently sealed them.

The team led by assistant commissioner Dr Sana Ramchand, along with food safety officer Waqas Ahmed and Chief Officer Municipal Committee Sana Ullah, raided the illegal fat rendering units in Tahirkheli town, Dhoke Miskeen, Mehrabad, and Bafaud Road and sealed them. Two units were working in junkyards, while two others were working in residential units. The officials also recovered a huge quantity of oil during the operation.

Speaking to newsmen on this occasion, Dr Sana said that all units were involved in extracting oil from animals' filth and fat as well as supplying them to local shops in the area. 'A...
