Four held for resisting drive against encroachments.

KARACHI -- Four people were arrested for resisting an anti-encroachment action taken by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in district East on Friday.

KMC officials said the municipal administration had launched the action for removal of all sorts of encroachments from main roads, service roads and green belts in all the six districts of the city on the directive of Mayor Wasim Akhtar.

They said the anti-encroachment staff took action around University Road and removed many roadside stalls, cabins, sugar-cane juice machines, concrete walls and other illegal structures near Civic Centre and Chandni Chowk.

The officials said the action was taken after the encroachers were served with many notices. Led by KMC's senior director Bashir Siddiqui, additional director anti-encroachment (district East) Shakir Zaki and deputy director Rehan Siddiqui were also present during the action.
