Former PM is panicking because I have been elected as the representative by coalition partners: Shehbaz.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the former prime minister Imran Khan is panicking because I have been elected as the representative by coalition partners, adding that I will work on a pace I am used to. "You [Imran Khan] may be panicked due to my speed of work but the people have stopped panicking." Referring to his predecessor, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that "he used to travel to office from home in a cheap helicopter for Rs55 per kilometers, while his ministers moved in luxury bulletproof cars." "Did they care for the common people? If they did, Peshawar Morr to New Islamabad Airport Metro Bus project wouldn't have been delayed for four years."

While addressing the inauguration of mass transit bus project on Peshawar Morr to Islamabad International Airport route, PM Shehbaz Sharif said the journey of progress of Pakistan had resumed from the point that faced a halt of development during the four years of the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said being the representative of the coalition government, he would ensure fast implementation of the delayed or suspended projects of public importance.

The Islamabad Metro Bus Service project, which was due to become operational by 2018, faced a massive delay by the previous government and was launched within five days after PM Shehbaz Sharif assumed his office. The 25.6 kilometer bus route will benefit an estimated 50,000 commuters on daily basis.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said the project was a gift from then Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the people of Islamabad and adjoining areas aimed at facilitating them through a decent transport service.

He said though the development funds were available to complete the public welfare projects during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, however the will serve the masses was lacking.

PM Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that Pakistan Muslim League government during previous tenure had launched the mass transit projects in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan.

He pointed out that the PTI government regrettably took stay orders from the courts to suspend the projects of public importance.

He said the Orange Line mass transit train, which was a gift from China, faced litigation by the PTI that caused its delay by over two years.
