Forest regulations to be extended to tribal districts: official.

KHAR -- The government would extend its forest and wildlife policies and regulations to tribal districts to develop both the sectors in the region, said Shahidullah Khan, the provincial secretary of forest, environment and wildlife departments.

He was talking to local elders, political activists and officials of district administration and forest department at a jirga during his two-day visit to Bajaur.

He said that promotion of forestry and wildlife was imperative for socio-economic development of the newly merged districts as the region was suitable for both the sectors due to its soil and environment.

Mr Khan said that promotion of forestry and wildlife in tribal districts would not only improve the natural beauty of the region, but would also boost socio-economic activities in the area.

He said that provincial government was giving special attention to the development of forest, environment and wildlife sectors in the merged districts.

He said that after merger of tribal areas with the province, the government decided to launch several schemes for promotion of wildlife sector in the tribal districts.
