FM urges envoys to broaden mutually beneficial trade with Europe.

ISLAMABAD -- Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday said the monthly foreign exchange level had crossed $2 billion.

Foreign Minister Qureshi was speakAing at the virtual meeting on EconomAic Diplomacy with Pakistani envoys in European countries. He stressed on the envoys to cultivate and broaden mutually beneficial trade and economAic partnerships with European counAtries, focusing on key goals of trade promotion, financial inflows, investAments, remittances, tourism and techAnology transfer.

The fifth virtual meeting was held as part of government's economic outAreach initiative. The meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister Qureshi, foAcused on Europe. Pakistan's envoys to France, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania and Russia participated in the meetAing, said a foreign ministry statement.

Highlighting the growing imporAtance of geo-economics in internationAal politics, the Foreign Minister unAderscored Economic Diplomacy as an essential part of modern diplomatic practice.

He said in line with Prime MinisAter Imran Khan's vision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the missions abroad were at the forefront of safeAguarding and advancing Pakistan's economic interests.

They played an important role in successful implementation of a range of measures including the Prime MinAister's 'Global Initiative on Debt Relief' for developing countries, Prime MinAister's Economic Outreach Initiative, and the Roshan Digital Account.

Underscoring the importance of consolidating and expanding PakiAstan's economic outreach with Europe, Foreign Minister Qureshi stressed the need to diversify exports to the EU countries to fully utilise the benefits under the GSP Plus status.
