Flood alert in hill torrent areas.

DERA GHAZI KHAN -- After the new spell of rain as well as the incident of sweeping away of buses by strong currents waters of hill torrent and drowning of one crew member of the bus, the commissioner office issued on Thursday flood alert in the mountainous drains of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Two days ago, hill torrents in a drain along the shrine of Sakhi Sarwar in Dera Ghazi Khan swept away two buses which had been parked on the bed of the drain. One bus worker who was inside the bus also drowned.

Local residents said the incident occurred allegedly due to the alleged negligence of the tehsil administration, border military police and Auqaf department as there was no warning board about prohibition of parking and establishing makeshift bazaars on the bed of the drain resulting from flash flooding after the recent spell of rains.

It is worth mentioning that the urs-cum-spring festival traditionally commences at the shrine of the saint in last week of February and ends on April 13.
