Five bakeries sealed for selling substandard items.

SWABI -- The district food department sealed five bakeries in Topi tehsil here on Wednesday on the charges of producing and selling substandard food items.

A food department team led by district food director Adil Nauman along with other relevant officials and a police party inspected the quality of essential commodities during a raid.

Mr Adil said the bakeries were producing substandard food items and supplying the same to the people. He said these items were harmful to the health of the people and not prepared according to the given food standards.

He also warned other traders to sell quality food items and in case of failure their shops would also be sealed like the bakeries.

DRUGS SEIZED: The district police recovered a big quantity of ice drug and hashish and arrested 16 alleged drug dealers in an operation here on Wednesday.

According to police, they have recovered three kilogrammes of ice drug and 8.78 kilogrammes of hashish. They said three motorcycles used in drug trafficking had also been impounded.
