Expired pesticides worth Rs6m seized.

BAHAWALPUR -- An agriculture officials' team assisted by police personnel on Sunday seized expired pesticides worth Rs6m before their sale to the retailers.

According to a source, the raiding team, on a tip-off, conducted a raid on the warehouse of a multinational company in the industrial estate and seized 891 litres and 561kg of expired pesticides amounting to about Rs6m. The company was planning to supply the pesticides to the retailers in the market.

The raiding team, after its confiscation, handed over the expired pesticides to police for their proper disposal and moved a complaint for registration of a first information report (FIR) against the owners who managed to flee from the warehouse.

DIES: A loader-rickshaw driver was killed in an accident at Azam Chowk, Bahawalpur.

The shawl of Muhammad Ali got entangled in the chain of his three-wheeler. This led to the accident, resulting in Ali's death.

This is the third such casualty in Bahawalpur and Lodhran during the last three days.

Earlier, a male loader and a woman were killed when a shawl got entangled in the chains of their loader-rickshaw.

ARRESTED: The City Lodhran police claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender wanted for four years in an acid attack and double murder cases.

According to PRO Imran Umar of DPO, Sajjad alias Sajja had allegedly shot dead one Subhan in 2018 and killed another man with an acid attack in 2020.
