'Expeditious justice depends on bar-bench coordination'.

BAHAWALPUR -- Chief Justice-designate Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) says it is the collective responsibility of both bar and bench to help the oppressed to relieve them of their sufferings.

He was speaking at a farewell function arranged by local lawyers in honour of Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh here on Wednesday.

Justice Qasim Khan said the oppressed segments of the society needed special care and both bar and bench should work together for the dispensation of justice to them. To achieve this objective, he underlined the need for continuous hard work by lawyers. He advised young lawyers to develop reading habit and love books as the best lawyer or a judge derived a lot from books.

Earlier, LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh exhorted the lawyers to avoid strike call culture which, he said, created hindrances in the smooth dispensation of justice to the needy.

He described the bar and bench as two wheels of a carriage, and said their mutual cooperation would help provide justice to litigants.
