Evacuee Trust's head should be from minorities, says Suddle.

QUETTA -- The chairman of the one-man commission on minorities' rights and protection, Dr Shoaib Suddle, has recommended that the chairman of the Evacuee Trust should be from minorities Speaking at a press conference after concluding a two-day visit to Quetta on Friday, he said that the commission had observed that the properties belonging to the minorities in the city had been allotted to unconcerned and undeserving people with the connivance of the Evacuee Trust.

This matter relating to the illegal possession of the evacuee properties would the resolved soon and the commission would take up the issue with the chairman of the Evacuee Trust in Islamabad, he added.

Dr Suddle also pledged to ensure implementation of five per cent government job quota of the minorities and said that related laws and rules should be amended if necessary.

'Minority communities in Balochistan have been living in an atmosphere of harmony and peace, but we have received some complaints from Sibi, Jaffarabad and Dhahdar, which would be addresses on a priority basis,' he said.

'Rights of minorities have been secured in the Constitution of Pakistan that assures them of a free and conducive atmosphere for their religious ceremonies, but some incidents involving minorities and their places of worship have maligned the country at international level.'

He said that all possible efforts will be made to secure legitimate rights of minorities' and ensure safety of their places of worship across the country.

Dr Suddle said that the one-man commission had been established for implementation on the judgement of the Supreme Court about securing rights of minorities and providing proper security to the minorities and their places of worship.
