Environmental challenges discussed.

KARACHI -- Bilateral trade between Pakistan and the European Union has increased by more than 78 per cent since Pakistan was included in the General Scheme of Preferences (GSP) for the 2014-2023 period. An efficient reporting mechanism is required for national efforts and the country's performance against the agenda of sustainable development.

This was stated by Sohail Ali Naqvi, Director of the Freshwater Programme at the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan, at a workshop organised by the WWF-P. It aimed at building the capacity of the environmental protection agencies of Sindh and Balochistan for improving compliance and reporting mechanisms for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs).

The workshop was part of WWF-P's project titled International Labour and Environmental Standards (ILES): Application in Pakistan's SMEs.
