Eight development projects okayed for Rawalpindi division.

RAWALPINDI -- Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) on Tuesday gave approval to eight development schemes worth Rs650 million in different parts of the Rawalpindi division and asked the departments concerned to ensure quality of construction work.

Commissioner Saqib Manan presided over the meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party and approved eight schemes of Local Government and Community Development as well as two schemes of Public Health and Engineering Department after detailed discussion.

The meeting was held at committee room of the commissioner office and attended byDeputy Commissioner Attock Waqar Hassan Cheema and other officials concerned.

The development schemes would be completed in 24 months.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Saqib Manan said the quality of work should not be compromised in the race to utilise funds.

He said that the provision of rigid pavement should be kept in mind for the roads constructed in far flung areas which will be helpful for longer life of road.

As per details, two schemes worth Rs157 million of construction of sewerage/drainage nullah, retaining wall and concrete streets were approved in Ward No 2 and Ward No 8 of Rawalpindi Cantonment...
