EDITOR'S Note.

The year of 2020 is celebrated as the "Turkmenistan Home of Neutrality" with a primary aim to strengthen global understanding about the policy of positive neutrality of Turkmenistan especially as the UN is celebrating its 75 years of establishment where Turkmenistan has contributed immensely. The policy adopted by Turkmenistan is an international instrument to promote peace, stability and development. This policy is helping to promote international and regional peace and stability through the collaborative effort with UN and other important international organizations. This unique policy was declared by Turkmenistan in July 1992 as part of its foreign policy and later on 12 December 1995, the UN General Assembly adopted by the "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan" unanimously by 185 member states.

Each year has been named by Turkmenistan as a special year and a thematic importance is provided to highlight significance of the country's global standing at the national, regional and global level. For instance the year 2019 was the year of the "Turkmenistan- Homeland of Prosperity" and primarily the year was celebrated to promote the golden years and hard work of the people of Turkmenistan especially for moving the country on the roads of prosperity.

In order to celebrate these outstanding contributions of development, government of Turkmenistan has provided plethora of opportunities to ensure to share the best practices. Keeping the tradition alive, the year 2020 has been given a unique and much relevant theme of "Turkmenistan-Home of Neutrality". This is particularly significant especially for a country which has remained the torch bearer in the world for peace, development and prosperity. Neutrality has remained at the heart-bed of the country's national ethos. It is how the country has been defined by the very fact that it is preaching world peace and humanitarianism. The status of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly after passing of resolution recognizing December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality.
