ECP summons principal secretary to PM, Establishment Division Secy.

ISLAMABAD -- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday summoned the principal secretary to the prime minister and the secretary establishment division in their personal capacity on Monday (today) for not transferring the Sheikhupura deputy commissioner.

According to a statement issued by the ECP, a three-member bench to be headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and comprising Sindh member Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa member Justice (retd) Ikramullah Khan, will hear the case.

The statement read that an application was filed by the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) for allotment of a symbol for the upcoming general polls as prescribed under rule 162 of the Election Act, 2017.

It added that Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Touqeer Shah and Establishment Division Secretary Inamullah should explain to the commission why they had not complied with the directions issued by the ECP to transfer Sheikhupura Deputy Commissioner Waqar Ali.
