'ECP simplifying electoral process'.

PESHAWAR -- Provincial Election Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pir Maqbool Ahmad on Friday said the Election Commission of Pakistan believed in participation of all communities in the electoral process.

He was addressing a seminar here that was organised by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the religious minorities.

Representatives of religious minorities were briefed about the new electoral process, said an official statement.

Mr Maqbool said the ECP would fulfil its constitutional responsibilities to ensure full participation of religious minority groups in the upcoming local body elections in the province and general elections.

He said Sections 4 and 18 of the Election Commission Act protected the rights of religious minority voters in the electoral process.

'The Constitution protects the fundamental rights of the religious minorities and the Election Commission of Pakistan is trying to make electoral process very simple to facilitate minority groups,' he said.

The PEC said voter lists were being revised

before the next local government election in the province.
